Quibi short video platform hits over 300,000 installs on its first day

The first day of work for the short-format streaming video platform Quibi has been a huge success. During it, the analytics service Sensor Tower registered 300, 000 installations of the service application.

True, this result looks rather shallow compared to competitor Quibi - the new streaming platform Disney +, which reached 4 million on the first day. At present, the number of its subscribers has already exceeded 10 million. The third result is for the video on demand service HBO Now, which collected 45, 000 subscribers on the first day.

Disney +, when launched last November, was available for a wide variety of platforms, including mobile devices, set-top boxes, smart TVs, game consoles, and web apps. Likewise, HBO content was available for five years before the launch of HBO Now, when streaming services were much more modest than they are today.

According to experts, the Quibi service has become another victim of COVID-19. The platform was originally designed to consume short content on the go. In conditions of self-isolation at home, this advantage becomes irrelevant.

By the way, potential users of Quibi are offered a free 90-day version, so to confirm a successful "start" of the platform, you will have to wait at least three months.

One of the key features of Quibi is its focus on vertical content
