Do you like the smell of napalm in the morning like a famous movie character? If so, with the Feelreal Sensory Mask accessory you can feel it the next time you watch any action movie. The startup promises to add another level of immersion to any virtual reality content - adding realistic smells and tactile sensations to video and sound.
The idea is not new, the whole question is in the execution. The developers of Feelreal assure that this mask is compatible with all popular models of VR headsets. These include Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift, Oculus Go, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR. The device has containers for simultaneous loading and use of nine different flavors, in total there are more than 250 of them in the collection. Including the very "smell of napalm" for gourmets.
All flavors are synthesized in the plant itself, the initial components are chemicals for the food industry, flavorings that are safe for health. A micro-air conditioner is also installed here, which can supply hot or cold air to the user's face. Plus an ultrasonic transducer to simulate rain drops and a vibrating mechanism to transmit the sensation of wind or shockwave. This is why Feelreal is made in the form of a mask that covers most of the face.
At the moment, the device supports only a few applications and services: Skyrim VR, Beat Saber, Death Horizon and YouTube VR. Bluetooth is used to communicate with the headset, the batteries are enough for 4 hours of operation. There is no exact data on the cost of the accessory, as well as on the possible release date, the startup is at an early stage of development.
