Unicom company, representing the state corporation RUSNANO, became one of the four winners of the competition held by the European Union for the right to develop and manufacture silent road surface.
Russian scientists have developed a unique technology for obtaining a special powder from used car tires. When mixed with hot bitumen, nanostructures with a size of 30-300 nm are obtained, which make the road surface more durable, resistant to temperature extremes, moisture and reduce noise from passing cars by 6-12 dB. The Institute of Chemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences provides active scientific support to the developers.
The initiative to create the project belongs to the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment of the Netherlands. Unik's partners are Heijmans, Dura Vermeer from the Netherlands and SGS Intron from Switzerland.
