FlixBus launches autotravel with VR headset on board

One of the largest passenger road carriers in the United States, FlixBus recently began offering VR headset seats on select routes to Las Vegas so passengers can while away the long journey. According to the initiators of the project, portable music players and online games on smartphones are already boring, and it's time to try something new.

Passengers who prefer such seats will not be charged additional fees for using VR equipment. They are offered about 50 virtual games, films and videos telling about the "passing" tourist attractions. FlixBus partners with Inflight VR and Pico Interactive in this endeavor.

The virtual service is currently undergoing a three-month trial run on six routes from downtown Los Angeles to downtown Las Vegas and Tempe to the Las Vegas Strip. Pre-booked passengers receive a Pico Goblin 2 headset with Inflight VR content and instructions for use during the journey. It provides 3K resolution and 4 hours of battery life.
