Shvabe starts production of lightweight astrositall mirrors

Among the exhibits presented by the Russian holding Shvabe at the international aerospace exhibition MAKS-2015, a worthy place was taken by astrositall products - lightweight and super-lightweight mirrors created at the Lytkarino optical glass plant, which is part of the holding.

The essence of this production technology is the special processing of mirrors using a special milling machine with electronic control. The shape specified by the program is created by removing part of the material with the cutter. The shape and size of each cell is carefully calibrated as a result of high-precision calculations.

The scope of application of astrositall mirrors is optical tracking systems, aerial photography, space installations for remote exploration of the Earth. With the help of a new technology for the production of lightweight mirrors, the company's specialists managed to create products with a lightweight coefficient of 70 to 80%.
