Intel offers a stroll through the Burning Man festival in virtual reality

Despite the fact that annually tens of millions of people visit the largest Smithsonian Museum of American Art in the United States (Washington), for many it remains inaccessible. This is why the museum's management, together with Intel, decided to accelerate the digitization of its 157 million exhibit collection.

The first project of this program gives visitors the opportunity to take a virtual tour of the site of the annual Burning Man contemporary art festival, held in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada.

At the Renwick Gallery in the Smithsonian Museum, visitors can use VR headsets to experience the virtual Black Rock Desert. After that, back in the real world, they will be able to view everything from sculptures and paintings to various decorations and costumes used in the actual Burning Man festival. The exhibition will run until January 21, 2019.
