If you're tired of waiting for the rumored iPad mini with Retina display, then you can start waiting for another tablet that LG has announced. This is an 8.3 inch tablet G Pad 8.3. It is unknown if it will be more successful than the Optimus Pad released in 2011, but the G Pad has one undeniable advantage - it is the first 8-inch tablet with a Full HD display.
In addition to a display with a resolution of 1920x1200, the new tablet has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of flash memory, and a 4600mAh battery. It is only 8.3mm thin and weighs 338g. Thus, the G Pad is thinner than the iPad mini and Galaxy Note 8.0.
The operating system of the G Pad 8.3 uses Android 4.2.2 with the LG interface. In addition, the software has some unique features developed by a Korean company. For example, Slide Aside (allowing you to slide an application off the screen with three fingers), QSlide (launching three applications simultaneously in one window) or KnockOn (turning the tablet on and off by double tapping the display).
The G Pad 8.3 is expected to hit the market in the fourth quarter of this year, although LG has not announced its price yet.
