Nanotechnology is increasingly being introduced into medicine, complementing traditional methods of treatment. Not so long ago, American scientists created a new implant NeuroPace, which makes it possible to influence the electrical activity of the brain.
Attempts to implant implants into the holy of holies - the human brain, have been made earlier. The first patients were patients with Parkinson's disease. The new device is designed to prevent epileptic seizures. As you know, they are caused by spontaneous electrical activity of the brain, accompanied by loss of consciousness and muscle cramps.
The implant introduced into the patient's brain is connected to the problem areas with the help of electrodes and takes them under its control. When the urge occurs prior to the seizure, the implant generates an electronic pulse that dampens them.
Compared to previous similar developments, the creation of the NeuroPace is an unconditional progress, since this device has the ability to analyze human brain activity and eliminate the problem that has arisen. As the practice of implantation has shown, in almost a third of patients, the frequency of seizures has decreased by half.
