Voktail is a virtual cocktail glass developed by the National University of Singapore. Its main feature is the ability to imitate the tastes, smells and colors of different drinks using digital technologies. It makes dieting easier, for example.
Voktail development started in 2013. Then its predecessor was created - Digital Lollipop (Digital Lollipop), an electronic device that synthesizes virtual tastes. The engineers used the gained experience in the development of Voktail. Its main elements are two silver electrodes on the rim of the glass, through which impulses are transmitted to the tip of the tongue, simulating various taste sensations - sweet, salty, sour, bitter. The picture is complemented by an LED installed at the bottom of the glass, adding the corresponding color to the virtual cocktail.
But that's not all. Special cartridges fill the glass with aromatized molecules, creating the illusion of aroma at the moment of a sip. The range of virtual cocktails is quite extensive. With the help of a special application, the user of Voktail can independently "adjust" the taste, color and smell he needs.
The developers, first of all, hope to interest the novelty of those who decided to go on a diet and even those with diabetes. Just imagine, they can drink simple computer-sweetened water without the slightest threat to their health. It remains to wait and see how long the body will tolerate this deception.
