Imagine a situation that you, being on a ship under enemy fire, managed to put on a bulletproof vest, but by chance turned out to be overboard, and then the seemingly impossible happens - the bulletproof vest turns into a life jacket.
In fact, there is nothing surprising in this. This is another novelty of VSB International, which specializes in the development of means of survival in extreme environments.
The inflatable body armor is made using the Fats technology. The armored part is made according to NIJ 0101, 06 IIIA standards with bulletproof elements in the front and rear. The "inflatable" part is located below them. Air containers are filled from cylinders filled with carbon dioxide, which are activated automatically or manually when a person enters the water.
The vest is made of lightweight nylon with a polyurethane coating based on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. Due to this, the armor plates have high strength combined with lightness. By the way, the "inflatable" part of the body armor can be unfastened if it is not needed.
The product is intended for maritime law enforcement agencies, the coast guard and the personnel of the Navy. The cost of the bulletproof vest, presented recently at the Seawork International Exhibition, is 1550 dollars.
