Samsung unveils "indestructible" OLED screen for new Galaxy

Samsung released a new type of ultra-durable and flexible OLED screen two months ago, but the news was not publicized until it passed official industry testing by Underwriters Laboratories. It works with the US government and uses military protection standards to test products. The new screen has passed the tests and will now be an iconic element of the company's future flagship smartphone next year.

The new screen is not so much flexible as rigid - the company's engineers have replaced the hardened protective glass with an innovative plastic that withstands bending, but returns to its original state. And prevents damage to the touch elements underneath, so you can bend the entire screen. In fact, Samsung has created a very significant competitor to all protective glasses for portable gadgets - their plastic is not inferior to them in anything.

The screen has a diagonal of 6, 2 inches, its maximum resolution is 1440x2960 pixels. In tests, it withstood drops from a height of up to 1.8 m, temperature drops of 71 ° C and -32 ° C, direct hits with a hammer on the display. And, of course, bending tests - the new screen is not invulnerable, but many times stronger than analogues on the market.

Experts have already dubbed 2019 "the year of Samsung flexible screens." It is expected that the company will not only equip most models of its products with them, but also transfer the technology further, to other types of accessories. I wonder what the competitors will answer?
