The album "Coditany of Timeness" is a joint project of musicians CJ Carr and Zach Zukowski, who "helped" the neural network to write and refine five separate compositions. The name was also entrusted to a computer - letter combinations like "Timension" and "Wisdom Trippin" were generated after the final version of each tune was created.
Since the neural network does not know how to generate content from an absolutely empty place, the musicians took a modification of the SampleRNN system and "fed" it the music from the album "Diotima" of the real black metal band Krallice from New York. The training methodology looked like this: the original musical array with a duration of about an hour was cut into fragments of 8 seconds each and mixed into the neural network. Then she was given an initial chord, to which the system tried to find a consonant continuation, and the musicians evaluated the result.
The neural network studied for about 3 days, going through more than 5 million combinations. Gradually, from a wild cacophony and grotesque noises, the computer moved to harmonious combinations. In some ways, they resembled the original music, but from a formal point of view, they were completely the result of the "creativity" of AI. Now it is important to find out how this music will be perceived by critics and connoisseurs of the genre.
